"This is your choice. No matter how far your spirit is, it will always life inside the village, its people… and mine."
―Murati allowing his daughter to choose her own path.
Akhona is the tritagonist of Disney's upcoming animated feature film The Royal Nigerian. She is the daughter of the Hatima Tribe leader Murati who must help Hasani protect the Kingdom of Mukanda from the reign of Zingatia led by their cruel king, Mathius. Akhona would soon fall in love with Hasani, and the duo would become married to each other, this making her the princess of Mukanda.
She is loosely based on the character of the same name from The Royal Nigerian storybook collections, and becomes the fourteenth official member of the Disney Princess-line-up, the second one to be black (the other being Princess Tiana from The Princess and the Frog) and the first one to be African.
