- Alcindor Brown - Akuna's father. Ever since his mother died, Akuna hasn't spoken to his father in a long time, and now holds a little grudge against him for leaving him and his mother. However, he did understand that they had to go their separate ways like being deported back to where they came from. After saving Africa from Jangili's threat, Akuna deeply loves his father more than anything, and would do everything for him.
- Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Brown - Akuna's younger and paternal half-brother. Akuna showed no jealousy after his father married Kalisha and they had a son of their own. But Akuna didn't bother to treat Kareem as a brother first, and only needed him and their families' help to save Africa from Jangili. But in the end, Akuna realized that Kareem wasn't that bad, and would finally accept him as a brother and do anything to stand up for him, even Oscar Proud who dares to insult him.
- Kalisha Brown - Akuna's stepmother.
- James Earl Jones Brown - Akuna's paternal grandfather.
