Alastair George Bell Sim, CBE was a Scottish character actor, whose only Disney role was Lord Harrogate in the 1976 film Escape from the Dark, which was his final role. He was considered for the role of Mr. Dawes Sr. in Mary Poppins.

He began his theatrical career at the age of thirty, but quickly became established as a popular West End performer, where he took part in various Shakespeare plays and collaborations with playwright James Birdie in works, such as What Say They?, Mr Bolfry, The Forrigan Reel, Dr. Angelus, and Mr. Gillie. Ironically, He would also participate in theatrical productions of Alice in Wonderland as Mad Hatter and Peter Pan as Captain Hook/Mr. Darling before Walt Disney adapted them to film.

He also appeared in more than fifty British films, starting in 1935, such as Green for Danger, The Happiest Days of Your Life, Laughter in Paradise, Waterloo Road, London Belongs to Me, Geordie, Stage Fright, Folly to Be Wise, An Inspector Calls, The Belles of St. Trinian's, The Green Man, The Millionairess, and School for Scoundrels. However, he was best well known for playing Dickens cold-hearted miser Ebenezer Scrooge in both the 1951 film Scrooge and the Richard Williams animated adaption of A Christmas Carol, which also had Michael Hordern as Jacob Marley in both productions.
