Grand Papaw (real name James Earl Jones Brown) is one of the main characters in the Disney+ Spin-Off Series Jungle Safari Kareem. He is the wealthy patriarch of the Brown Family and paternal grandfather of Kareem Brown and Akuna Umeadi, the father of Alcindor Brown and father-in-law of Kalisha Brown.

After his wife was killed in Detroit 1967, Grand Papaw felt very guilt-ridden of failing to protect her, but promised her that nothing will stop him from raising their son, Alcindor.

- Grand Papaw is revealed to be an old college mate and childhood friend of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and decided to name his son after him, by naming him Alcindor, which would lead him to name his son after the legendary basketball star.
