Jonathan Drew Groff is an American actor, singer, and songwriter. For Disney, he voiced Kristoff in the Disney 2013 animated feature film Frozen and reprised the role in the 2015 short sequel Frozen Fever, Lego Frozen Northern Lights, the 2017 featurette Olaf's Frozen Adventure, the video game Kingdom Hearts III, and the 2019 sequel Frozen II. A production of Hamilton that he performed in was also released through Disney+.

Groff was born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania and graduated from Conestoga Valley High School in 2003. During his youth, he perform in various school and community productions, even deciding to forgo college to begin his acting career following high school.

Groff started out waiting tables at the Chelsea Grill in New York City before earning his Actors' Equity Association card in 2005, with the musical Fame at the North Shore Music Theatre. However, his breakthrough role was that of Melchior Gabor in the Broadway production of the rock musical Spring Awakening. This was followed by more production on and off Broadway with shows, like Hair, The Singing Forest, Deathtrap, The Pirates of Penzance, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, A New Brain, Sondheim on Sondheim, Little Shop of Horrors, and originating the role of King George III in Hamilton.

Other than appearing in films, like Taking Woodstock, The Conspirator, American Sniper, The Matrix Resurrections, The Normal Heart, and Lost Ollie, Groff has also appeared on television shows, such as One Life to Live, Glee, The Good Wife, Boss, Looking, Mindhunter, The Simpsons, and Invincible.


  • Groff is known for constantly letting out spittle on stage. This became especially prominent after the filmed performance of Hamilton, which features close-ups of Groff spitting.
