Mathius is the main antagonist of Disney's upcoming animated feature film The Royal Nigerian. He is the tyrannical and power-hungry king of Zingatia in Somalia where he rules over his kingdom with black magic. During his tyranny, Mathius would begin to conquer other kingdoms in the Savannah, even killing other rulers and would soon begin with the Nigerians in Mukanda even known that their prince would be the one to put an end to his dictating.
He is loosely based on The Somalian King of the same from the book collection of The Royal Nigerian, and would now become a primary member of the Disney Villains and is also the first to originate from a fully computer-animated film. He also became the second one to be black and from Africa, the other two are Dr. Facilier/The Shadow Man from The Princess and the Frog and Scar from The Lion King.
He was originally going to be named Lord Zahour (means Blossom in English) and Tariku (means History in English), meaning that he was going going to be a lord rather than a king in the kingdom of Somalia, cause a queen ruled it over, and would soon be killed by him.
