Melvin Jerome "Mel" Blanc was an American voice actor and radio personality, best known for his voice work with Warner Bros., Hanna-Barbera, DIC Entertainment, and Walter Lantz Productions. He was considered the greatest of American animation's voice actors, who was often known for providing animal, monster, and creature sounds, rivaled only in longevity and ubiquity by June Foray.

For Disney, he provided the voice of Gideon in Pinocchio. However, when it was decided that Gideon would be mute, Blanc's lines were cut from the final film, except for three hiccups.

Blanc also provided several voices for attractions at the 1964 New York World's Fair, including Uncle Orville and the Parrot in the Carousel of Progress, and multiple cavemen in the Ford Magic Skyway.

Additionally, in Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Blanc reprised the voices of several of his classic Warner Bros. characters, including Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck, except Yosemite Sam, whom he refused to voice due to always being rough on his throat (the role instead went to Joe Alaskey, as a result).

Some of the chicken sounds that were made by Blanc in older cartoons were used for Heihei in Moana.
