Robert Oscar Cook was an American sound engineer, who worked for Disney on various film and television projects.
In his early years, he assisted C.O. Slyfield with synchronizing sound with moving images when such a feat was revolutionary. He and Slyfield were awarded a Technical Achievement Award from the Academy of Motion Pictures and Sciences in 1947 for "the design and development of an audio finder and track viewer for checking and locating noise in soundtracks".
He continued to be be a supervisor for films, like Cinderella, Peter Pan, Lady and the Tramp, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, Johnny Tremain, The Shaggy Dog, Sleeping Beauty, Pollyanna, One Hundred and One Dalmatians, The Absent-Minded Professor, and Summer Magic, as well his Oscar nominated contributions to Mary Poppins, The Parent Trap, and Bon Voyage!. He also worked on sound for television shows, such as Disney's anthology series, Mickey Mouse Club, and Zorro.
Cook also served as a sound engineer for soundtracks albums released by the company related to Mary Poppins, The Happiest Millionaire, and the 1957 release of the soundtrack to Fantasia, seventeen years after the film's initial release.
He retired from the company by the 1980s and passed away on November 9, 1995.
