Songs of Freedom is a live action/animated musical film that is a reboot of and serves as an apology for Song of the South. It features a diverse group of directors (African-American, Asian-American, Hispanic-American, Jewish-American, etc.) telling folk tales about oppression and freedom in America. It's connection to Song of the South is cemented by the use of Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah in the film.

Release and Reception[]

The film was released on Disney Plus to positive reception, and was released in theaters as a double feature with Song of the South, with the latter having a disclaimer stating that it is a product of a different era and should be seen from a historical perspective. This was done to celebrate Splash Mountain being rethemed to a Princess and the Frog ride.
