Stuck at the Haunted Mansion is a 2023 Warner Bros. Cartoon Special.

Synopsis[]

When Shelly the Snail asked all his friends if they're all going to a big party in someplace special, they all have the same answer - they ARE going to a big party at Chloe's house in honor of her father Dr. Crab, who's won dentist of the year again. This leads Shelly to play Blue's Clues with Moolissa the Cow to figure out where the big party is. Turns out, the party is located at the Haunted Mansion, a very spooky place where 999 ghosts (and Mackie's deceased grandfather Sunato) live. This is followed by three smaller adventures inspired by three movies; one where Moolissa wonders if the Mattel toy company really created her in 1963, one where Shelly saves the Simpsons' house from being taken over by the Haunted Mansion's 999 ghosts, and one where Lisa Simpson time travels to figure out the true story of how the Flamin' Hot Cheetos came to be.

Trivia[]

  • The whole short is another crossover with Disney's Haunted Mansion attraction.
  • This short actually consists of four separate stories or mini-shorts: "The Search for the Big Party", "Moolissa & Mattel Don't Mix", "Happy Haunt-Mania!", and "Lisa and the Spicy Cheetos". These are labeled as chapters and have their own title cards.
    • All four parts of this short are later released as stand-alone Looney Tunes/Merrie Melodies shorts and they feature exclusive star-catching scenes and a Star count near the end.
    • The original Mattel logo from the 1950s also appears at the end of the second mini-short with the animation being the spiky circle spinning.
  • The fact that everyone tricks Shelly into thinking they're going to a big party for Dr. Crab is a reference to a scene from the Finny the Shark episode Happy Birthday, Finny!, where Chloe did the same thing to Finny as to keep her birthday party a surprise.
  • The Simpsons and their friends don't catch any stars in the short, and the stars do not get into the star pocket, the stars actually instead only help them on their adventure.
  • We Are Looking for Blue's Clues is given a tap-dancing makeover again, though the second part with majestic music is used as Shelly and Moolissa look for the second clue.
  • This is the first short to use non-abstract versions of the Cartoon Specials series titles, which is an HD recreation of the early 1930s B&W Mickey Mouse opening and closing titles.
  • From this short onwards, whenever someone that isn't Steve, Joe, or Josh uses the Handy Dandy Notebook in a game of Blue's Clues, the drawing ditty from the Baby Einstein video Discovering Shapes is heard.
  • It's also one of the few WB shorts to have Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe be involved in production.
  • This is one of the few shorts where the gang watches more than one movie in the adventure.
    • A reference to The Barbie Doll Parade is also made when Sandy sees multiple Barbies marching in Barbieland.
  • This is one of the few shorts to have the Character Find/Explorer Star Minigame segment from Dora the Explorer (it plays during the end credits). In this case, the character featured is Shelly the Snail.
    • When all four parts of the short are released as stand-alone Looney Tunes/Merrie Melodies shorts, each have their own Explorer Star minigame playing throughout the closing credits. The first part has Glowy Star's minigame, the second part has Movie Star's minigame, the third part has Artista Star's minigame, and the fourth part has Switchy Star's minigame.
  • The ending of the short (where Sammy comes face-to-face with Mickey's classic 1928 design) is connected to the events of the 2023 Disney short Steamboat Silly.
