Thomas Joseph "Tom" McCarthy is an American actor, director, and screenwriter. He has appeared in films, such as Bob Banks in the 2000 comedy Meet the Parents and Palmer Williams in 2005 action drama Good Night and Good Luck. He also directed and wrote films, such as The Station Agent, Win Win, and The Cobbler. Additionally, McCarthy has appeared in TV shows, such as Boston Public and Law & Order.
For Disney, he played Agent Pike in the 2004 Touchstone Pictures comedy The Last Shot. He also wrote the screenplay and story for Disney/Pixar's Up (2009) and the screenplay for the 2014 sports biography drama Million Dollar Arm. Most recently, he provided the screenplay for the 2018 family films Christopher Robin, The Nutcracker and the Four Realms, and Timmy Failure: Mistakes Were Made.
