Wayne Robson was a Canadian television, film, and stage actor, known for his distinctive high pitched raspy voice. His Disney roles included Frank in The Rescuers Down Under, Harry Dickens in One Magic Christmas, Ben Seifert in Murder She Purred: A Mrs. Murphy Mystery, Amos Spry in Road to Avonlea, Stan Holland in Cold Creek Manor, and Chizzelflint the Pawnbroker in Popeye.
Robson was born in Vancouver, British Columbia. He began his acting career on stage there, but moved with his family to Toronto, Ontario, where he continued stage acting and appeared in Canadian television commercials in the 1970s.
After receiving several small character roles in films, such as McCabe & Mrs. Miller, he appeared in films, like The Grey Fox , Finders Keepers, Parents, Double, Double, Toil and Trouble, Dolores Claiborne, Two If by Sea, Cube, Wrong Turn, Duct Tape Forever Welcome to Mooseport, The Incredible Hulk (2008), Harlan County War, and Survival of the Dead.
Robson also voiced Bloom in the animated film Pippi Longstocking and the animated shows Anne of Green Gables: The Animated Series, The Adventures of Tintin, and Bob and Margaret. He was, however, best known for playing the part of Mike Hamar, an ex-convict and sometime thief, in the Canadian sitcom The Red Green Show.
Robson died while in rehearsals for The Grapes of Wrath at the Stratford Festival in Stratford, Ontario, Canada on April 4, 2011; a few weeks before his 65th birthday.
